Freemasonry is the oldest and largest worldwide fraternity dedicated to the Brotherhood of Man. Freemasonry is not a religion. Rather, it is a place where men of all creeds can meet and work on the great truths of peaceful human interaction common to all religions.

The Freemason’s path begins at the Craft, or Blue Lodge. There, he submits his initial petition to be made a Mason, meets the members of the Lodge and the Masonic community, and is elected by the Lodge members to receive the three degrees of Craft Masonry: Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft and Master Mason. The Craft Lodge in Bismarck is Lodge No. 5

There is a great deal of spiritual, philsophical, historical and other information to study and learn in the Craft Lodge. Many Masons choose to focus their efforts in Freemasonry there. Others join one or more of the appendant or concordant bodies associated with Freemasonry.

In Bismarck, a Mason can join the Scottish Rite, York Rite, or the Shriners. He and his spouse can join the Bismarck Chapter No. 1, Order of the Eastern Star (as can many of his female relatives). There are also two Masonic youth groups in Bismarck – the Rainbow Girls and DeMolay.
